How do we create over 3 million jobs, reduce CO2 emissions, give millions of Americans a secure investment possibility and help to save the environment, all without adding to the national debt?

By enacting a federal law based on proven legislation that achieved similar results in other countries like Spain, Germany and Denmark.

The project models the effects of applying this law in the United States by looking at future electricity generation in each of the 50 states until 2020 and the associated environmental and economic impacts.

The approach

  • Analyze available renewable resources in each state.
  • Account for all known obstacles in the implementation of renewable energy.
  • Replace conventional power plants with renewable generation when appropriate.
  • Enhance grid reliability and restrict cost overruns.
  • Repeat for each state.

From now until the year 2020, this plan will result in:

  • Roughly 3,100,000 new jobs.
  • Renewable energy share of 30% (from 9% in 2008).
  • About 9% decrease of U.S. CO2 emissions.
  • No increase in the national debt.
  • Retirement of 13% of fossil power plants.
  • Reduction of emissions of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur, as well as mercury, arsenic, uranium, thorium, and other toxic metals, preventing hundreds of deaths each year.
